Highland’s “Breakfast Club” is affiliated regionally with Nutrition for Learning. Our aim is to make sure that each child has a nutritious breakfast to start their school day.
Here at Highland we provide that service at no charge for any student attending J.F. Carmichael Public School, located around the corner from the Church. Breakfast is served five mornings each week. Doors open at the Church at 7:30 am, with a nutritious breakfast being served from 8:00 to 8:25 am. The children are dismissed by 8:35 am.
It is the children’s responsibility to walk to the school from the Church as supervision is not provided. However, the route to the school only crosses only one street and there is not only a traffic light but also student crossing guards to ensure the safety of the children. We are always looking for more volunteers. If you want to know more about the Breakfast Club, or if you want to volunteer your help at Breakfast Club, please contact our Breakfast Club Coordinator, Pat Yanke at (519) 653-5149.
